Drug Awareness Month is soon and Cork’s Local Drugs Task Force arranged a concert as part of the event. The Daily Shift’s Karla Chubb previews the upcoming event…
Cork’s Choices Concert is providing the public a safe drug and alcohol free event where everyone can simply enjoy themselves through music.
Following the success of the Choices Concert in 2011, Cork’s Local Drugs Task Force has once again decided to hold the event as part of Drug Awareness Month.
The concert will take place on the 6th November in The Kino on Washington Street from 7pm until 10pm. Bands including Cove, Lennoko, Lost in Mexico, Audible Joes and George’s Band will be performing on the night while Jamie Sugrue will also be djing afterwards
The concert aims to provide an alcohol and drug free environment while highlighting the support and services offered by the Cork Local Drugs Task Force.
Aptly named Choices, the concert is trying to promote the fact that young people can enjoy themselves while choosing to abstain from alcohol and drugs, while simultaneously trying to encourage anyone suffering from substance abuse issues to choose to seek help from support systems such as the Cork Local Drugs Task Force.
The event is free and open to all ages, although children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Tickets are available from The Kino on Washington Street, YMCA on Marlboro Street and Cork City Community Radio in Douglas Village Shopping Center.
