The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their first child. Announced earlier today, Mark Roche of The Daily Shift has the details…
In a statement released earlier today by St. James Palace, the pregnancy was confirmed officially offering in addition that, everyone, including the queen, was thrilled by the news.
Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby
Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge has been hospitalised with acute morning sickness; diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum, she needs to be given extra fluids and nutrition. She is currently being treated at King Edward VII Hospital in London.
The statement detailed
As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter”
The Duchess is said to have not intended to publicly announce the news until at least 12 weeks pregnancy; Royal sources refuse to confirm how many weeks along she is but have confirmed that she has not yet reached 12 weeks.
One can only imagine that the splendour and amazement which enthralled the world during their wedding earlier this year in April, will resume again closer to the birth.
Regardless of gender, Prince William will have an heir to the throne, third in line ahead of his/her’s uncle, Prince Harry. This change in the rules of succession was made last year and British Parliament must still amend existing laws to officially sanction this change.
“Under the previous rules of male primogeniture, first born royal daughters in direct line to the throne were leapfrogged by their younger male siblings” reported the The Independent.
The announcement follows mass media speculation and relentless badgering of press and photographers which have printed stories and pictures, hoping to suggest that Catherine has a little bump. Some of the headlines have included; “PREGNANT & ALONE” – Life & Style Weekly and “IT’S TWINS” – Star.
In May of this year, Prince William told Katie Couric, “I’m just very keen to have a family and both Catherine and I are looking forward to having a family in the future.”
Not ones to laze about, Ladbrokes have been quoting odds of 8/1 for the child to be named Elizabeth if it is a girl followed by Diana at 12/1 or Frances, John and Charles at 10/1 for a boy.
Prime Minister David Cameron was one of thousands to express their joy and congratulations for the announcement that Prince William is soon to have an heir to the throne. Equally thrilled was Kim Kardashian, although some what less eloquent in her sentiment. Piers Morgan also tweeted, offering a somewhat hypocritical sentiment in light of his involvement in recent investigations.
