The death of Savita has horrified and angered the world.
Last week her beautiful face was all over the cover of every Irish newspaper, and many other papers around the world. In all the photos she is smiling, showing her to be so full of life and happiness.
Recently, however, a Galway photographer and videographer, Christopher Tierney found something more than photographs in his archives.
“It came to me early in the week. I realised where I saw the face before a thousand times,” he said.
The video in question was from St. Patrick’s Day in Galway 2011, and shows Savita dancing, smiling and enjoying herself; blissfully unaware of her fate.
No matter how many photos I have seen of Savita, nothing could prepare me for the shock I felt when I saw here here, so full of life and happiness.
The video also features footage from the vigil that took place in Savita’s honour on Saturday 17 November.
