Do you know anyone between the ages of 5 and 16 who want to follow in the footsteps of their footballing heroes? Well they can take the first step by signing up for the Liverpool FC Football Academy Summer Camp at NUI Galway. The Daily Shift’s Jack Squibb has more…

At the launch of the Liverpool FC Football Academy Summer Camp was Liverpool football legend, Ian Rush with (l-r): Niamh Nestor (8), Mark Connolly (8) and Jason Shevlin (10) from Galway, and Lee Murchan (9) from Donegal Town.
Earlier on in the week Liverpool legend Ian Rush was in Galway to open the new summer camp ran by Liverpool Football Club and hosted by NUI Galway. The lucky children between the ages of 5 and 16 will receive top class soccer skills advice and a taste of the Premier League at the Liverpool Football Academy in the University’s sports grounds in Dangan.
Speaking at the launch Ian Rush said:
“At Liverpool FC we pride ourselves on producing world class players and delivering exciting football to our fans. We take time to develop our younger players to ensure that they reach their full potential by guiding them through extensive training programmes and nurturing their development. As a result we have produced some world-class players over the years, which is something we’re really proud of. We apply the same principles to all age groups, including those who attend our Soccer School programmes. Liverpool FC International Football Academies run throughout the UK and are growing internationally too. So no matter where in the world you take a course, you’ll train and be coached in exactly the same way – The Liverpool Way.”
Speaking on behalf of NUI Galway, Kathy Hynes the Sports Development Officer at NUI Galway said;
“NUI Galway is delighted to welcome the Liverpool FC official academy coaches to the University. This is a wonderful event for everyone involved and we are delighted to provide our facilities to Liverpool FC and extending the University reach through sport into our local community.”
